On July 11, 2013 at 5:59pm my beautiful daughter was born into this world.

8.3lbs, 20 1/4 inches. Perfection.

Don't expect much from me in the way of arts. My schedule is kind of full as of now. :)

One month/4 weeks/28 days until my due date.

You've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel ready? Well, do ya, punk?

NOPE! Excuse me while I go panic and find something to clean.

Seven weeks. SEVEN WEEKS. Seven weeks, and I will have my baby.

I can't believe it. Life is going by so fast! It seems like only last week we found out we were pregnant.

In a week and a half it will be my birthday. A week and a half after that, will be my baby shower. Three weeks after that I'm due. IT'S SO CLOSE!! :la:

I have managed to be mildly productive. I finished a (really simple) quilt top, but can't decide what to do with it at this point. I'm not really physically able to crawl around on the floor and baste it, but I want it done and don't really want to take it to another person to quilt. :(

I have another (also super simple) quilt planned, but I need more fabric for that. And I need more fabric for pretty much every other project in my house, including backing for the top I just finished. I also want to get the house scrubbed really good before Abigial is here. Of course, I'm as big as a house and moving is awkward so who knows when any of this will get done! :faint:

In other news, I'm really glad people are actually talking about the Gosnell case and what sort of laws should be put in place for abortion practices.

Okay this next part is a rant. It's not meant to offend, but it probably will because it has to do with abortion and "unplanned" pregnancies. Ready? Go.

As a woman, I really hate how so many people are like "You can't tell a woman what to do with her body!" when you say you're anti abortion. I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do with their body. Guess what? If you have sex (especially without protection), you could get pregnant. Just like if you touch a hot stove (without protection), you could get burned. MEANWHILE, if you're sexually active how can you possibly be "surprised" when you get pregnant? Sex causes pregnancy. It's not news. This isn't about the woman. It's about the defenseless child. It's ridiculous that it's first-degree murder to kill an unborn baby without the mother's consent, but if the mother doesn't want it then it's fine and everyone just pats her on the back.

/end rant

Gosnell

I'm really disappointed how the Gosnell case has gone by almost unnoticed. I was hoping with such a grisly case as this more people would join the conversation about abortion and what a mother should be allowed to do and what sort of protection should be extended to the child. Instead, the majority of the population have ignored the whole thing. Nobody has to argue that killing children is wrong, but when a child is considered a child is where people seem to get stuck. I was hoping the Gosnell case would shed some light into this issue and that more people would be educated about what really happens when an abortion takes place. I was hoping some changes would be made, that lives would be saved. I was hoping that clinics like this would be under more careful regulation and watch. That mothers as well as children would be cared for with love. That life would be looked at as precious again, not as a dollar sign or as a burden. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened; and it doesn't look like it will any time soon. Instead, the silence is deafening.

I have discovered how much fun clay is! And since I'm not really supposed to spend all my time in front of my sewing machine being 30 weeks pregnant (only 10 to go!) I can spend time at the dining table and it doesn't make me as sore to sit and make random stuff out of clay. :)

My husband made a DA for the clay stuff we're making and selling- :iconscraggycrafts: and an etsy www.etsy.com/shop/ScraggyCraft… so feel free to check them out. I'll be posting some of the stuff I'm really proud of on my DA (this account), but I won't post EVERYTHING or I'd be flooding you all with stuff I'm only making to sell. :)
